"Preparation is the key to success. A well prepared audition gives you the tools and confidence to step into that casting room and give the best possible performance. This workshop is all about creating a supportive and positive environment for you to hone these skills. My mission is to guide you in your preparation, so that you can walk into that room ready for success."
No matter how confidently you walk into the audition space, it’s there. The feeling that you’re walking the knife edge between 'confident artist' and the physical urge to throw up on your shoes.
Every actor experiences it and it’s not helpful. You begin to push too hard to get everything perfect so that you can impress the casting director. You realise you want this too much and you begin to focus on the wrong thing - the results of the audition.
At this point, everything suffers - your creative choices, your ability to be spontaneous, you become angry at yourself and lose focus, and you start asking yourself why you’re even doing this. You’re certainly not having fun.
What if you walked into the audition space ready to have fun, feeling confident and prepared, ready to share with the casting panel without expectation. Isn’t this a stronger position to be in? Certainly more sustainable for your career - and you might actually enjoy yourself.
"Gabs is honestly one of the best in the business. Her warmth, positivity and ability to put you at ease is just magic. All this plus her ability to get you truly excited at the work and all it's possibilities."
"Gabriella not only provides a wealth of knowledge and expertise from her professional experiences as a director and performer in London, New York and around Australia, but is a sincere advocate for accessibility to creative training opportunities for all ages in a caring, safe and supportive environment."
"Gabs brings a tremendous amount of practical knowledge. Not just philosophies and general ideas, but things you can walk away with and do. Working with Gabs helped me feel confident in what to expect and minimised my fear of the unknown when walking into the audition room."
Your day begins with a mock audition for a musical.
